It’s May in New England! Spring flowers are blooming and the snow is almost gone. It’s a great time of year for road trips, shopping, dining, and evening entertainment.
With spring rains and snow melt, waterfalls are spectacular right now. Here are some particularly beautiful destinations, all good day trips from the Lyme Inn! Touring covered bridges is also a great way to explore the region, now through the fall. Check out bridges in New Hampshire and Vermont. There’s one right here in Lyme and several others only a short distance away.
Interested in microbrews? There are many pubs and breweries in New Hampshire and Vermont. River Roost Brewery is in nearby White River Junction, and you can check out other VT breweries as well as NH breweries.
Hanover, home of Dartmouth College, offers shopping options from cookware, books, and clothing to art and specialty items, as well as a variety of restaurants ranging from Thai and pizza to more formal dining such as Market Table. Take in the sights and sounds of this lovely college town: explore the Dartmouth Green, walk up and down Main Street, or see a movie at the Nugget.
For arts and musical entertainment there are a few options. The Lebanon Opera House has Arlo Guthrie coming May 16th, Alice in Wonderland from the City Center Ballet, May 4-6, and the magic of Bill Blagg on May 18th.
