Fall in New England

Each New England season offers sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that entice us. Each season is different and each is wonderful. One of the many joys of living in an area with distinct seasons is seeing the dramatic changes with each transition.
Fall is best known for the incredible colors brought by the changing leaves. But autumn includes so much more. From the slight chill in the air and the first wood fires of the season to the first sweaters and fleece jackets pulled out of the closet, fall in the Upper Valley is always welcomed.
With early fall comes apples and apple picking. There are many farms to visit, each offering different varieties of fruit and activities.

Do you love Honeycrisp apples and  corn mazes? If so, Riverview Farms in Plainfield, New Hampshire, is a wonderful, family-friendly stop. Winter squash, apple cider, and beautiful dried bouquets are some of their other offerings. Spending a couple of hours at Riverview Farm is always a pleasure.

Do you like heirloom apples and hard apple cider? Poverty Lane Orchards and Farnhum Hill Ciders in Lebanon, New Hampshire, are a must visit. They have a wide variety of pick-your-own and pre-picked apples for sale, and in October their heirloom apples become available. They have many years of cider-making expertise and it shows. Tastings are available at the farm.
