It’s autumn and we are preparing to enjoy fall’s seasonal activities: apple picking, enjoying fresh apple cider and baked goods, beautiful drives through hardwood forests with their spectacular colors, and so much more!
The Lyme Inn is a wonderful home base for Upper Valley fall activities. With beautifully appointed furnishings—each room is individually decorated—and suites with fireplaces, which are particularly inviting on some of our cooler autumn evenings, the beauty and comfort of the Inn allows for a restful stay in beautiful surroundings. The Inn also has a wonderful sitting room for lounging, chatting, or reading. A complimentary breakfast is included each morning and, of course, Ariana’s Restaurant is a delicious option for dinner!
Our charming town has other eating establishments, two spas, and a wonderful country store.
Visits to area farms are a favorite fall activity. Just a short drive away in Plainfield, NH, is Riverview Farm, which has many varieties of apples, apple cider, you-pick berries, and a corn maze ready for exploring! And there are more farms with similar products and entertainment.
King Arthur Baking Co, just across the river in Norwich, VT, offers classes in addition to wonderful baked goods, sandwiches, and soups in their cafe and baking supplies in their store. Some of their current classes include Salted Caramel Hand Pies, Whole Grain Artisan Breads, and Ciabatta: Classic and Modern.
Driving the Kancamagus Scenic Byway is always beautiful but autumn leaves and early snow make it particularly spectacular.
Nearby Hanover, NH, offers a multitude of restaurants and cafes. Dirt Cowboy has great coffee and Lou’s Restaurant has tempting baked goods, breakfasts, and lunches. Plus there are Indian, Thai, and pizza restaurants, and more. Hanover also has amazing boutique shopping for clothing and jewelry and lovely bookshops to peruse.
