The Upper Valley Area of New Hampshire and Vermont is unique. Straddling the Connecticut River, the Upper Valley is generally considered to include more than 40 contiguous towns with a country “metro” center of Hanover and Lebanon New Hampshire and Hartford Vermont.
The area offers a wide variety of activities for visitors and residents including
- Great and varied dining
- A wide variety of outdoor activities year-round
- Wonderful shopping opportunities
- Small farms and a variety of delicious options such as cheesemakers and breweries
- Performance venues, museums, and cultural opportunities for all ages,
- National historic and state parks
The country “metro” center thrives due to several large institutions at it’s core including Dartmouth College in Hanover, and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Fujifilm and Hypertherm represent high tech, and smaller tech companies dot the area inhabiting 19th century mill buildings along the Mascoma River.
We call the area unique because it offers such a wide variety of activities to accommodate a wide variety of tastes. While we do travel to larger metro areas occasionally (Boston, NYC) we don’t need to on a day to day basis. Almost everything we need is right here.
Over the next few months we’ll provide you with updates on the many options. Stay tuned!
