This is a decidedly different look at what goes on in a small town ideally situated on the banks of a magnificent and unspoiled stretch of the Connecticut River in central western New Hampshire. For starters, there’s a group of guys called “Those Guys” who help Lyme people in need. It can be anything from splitting and delivering wood to a family or home-bound person who needs some solid labor—and for free—to pitching a tent for the latest backyard wedding, at some modest charge. The things “Those Guys” do abounds. There’s also a “Souper Care” group of caring chefs who bake bread and deliver soup for neighbors in need. I’ve been a beneficiary of their fare during some tough times and, I can tell you, it’s a huge relief to see a meal show up announced. There’s also “The Utility Club” of Lyme and “Community Cares.” All do wonderful work in and for the Lyme community, yet, these are just the tip of the iceberg here in Lyme, New Hampshire. [Read more]
