Spring Is Here!

Spring is always welcome in our northern clime. We love winter but by this time are ready for warmer temperatures and spring activities. While small piles of snow remain and thermometers dip to freezing occasionally, spring daytime temperatures are here and we are venturing out without our heavy winter coats.
There are many indoor activities to entertain us until hiking and mountain biking trails fully open.
Dartmouth’s Hood Museum recently reopened after a major renovation. Its collections are among the oldest and largest of any college or university museum in the country. The Hood currently displays ancient and premodern art, Japanese woodblock prints, an installation of contemporary African art, European holdings in a range of media and genres, and much more. See what’s currently on view and take a video tour of the new Hood Museum.
A short drive to Windsor, Vermont, takes you to a collection of eight unique Vermont businesses in one place. Artisan Park is home to Harpoon Brewery, Simon Pearce Glass and Pottery, SILO Distillery, Path of Life Sculpture Garden, Great River Outfitters, Oh! Veggies, Blake Hill Preserves, and Vermont Farmstead Cheese Company Market. You can grab lunch and a brew, purchase picnic supplies, see the craftsmanship at Simon Pierce, and pick up some amazing preserves to take home.
If you are visiting the area with children, there are several options to keep them entertained. Billings Farm and Museum is a wonderful outdoor museum and a fully operating dairy farm with a wide range of educational exhibits and interactive programs and events. The Montshire Museum of Science offers over one hundred interactive exhibits to entertain kids of all ages. VINS, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, is an environmental education, research, and avian rehabilitation organization which is open year-round and features, among other things, state-of-the-art raptor enclosures, exhibit spaces, classrooms, and interpretive nature trails.
Planning for summer camps? Stay with us as you drop off and pick up. We are located within easy driving distance of several residential camps.
