Winter in New England is a beautiful time of year. And Lyme, New Hampshire, is a great place to experience the holidays. Gather the family for one of the holidays, or for a long weekend around them, and stay in our rooms or suites. If a home away from home is your preference, we have a standalone cottage with a full kitchen, bedroom, family room, and sitting room. You can cook holiday meals, bring meals in, or enjoy area restaurants. You can play music, watch holiday movies, and enjoy the peace and beauty of our small New England town, without the distractions of everyday life.
Our area offers additional entertainment, including wreath-making and cooking classes, farms selling apple cider and baked goods, local breweries, great cheesemakers, and performances at venues ranging from the opera house to the BBQ joint. And for the younger set and the young at heart, the Montshire Museum of Science can fill an afternoon. Billings Farm, a historic farm and museum, offers regular activities and special events for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. And their horse-drawn sleigh rides are always enjoyed by all.
Lyme is just north of Hanover, New Hampshire, home to Dartmouth College. Hanover offers the wide variety of restaurants and shopping you’d expect from a college town as well as exhibits and performances at the Hood Museum and the Hopkins Center of the Arts. The next town over, Lebanon, New Hampshire, is a classic New England town with Colburn Park at its center along with a 100-year-old opera house, and great restaurants. And across the river is White River Junction with more great restaurants, professional theatre, vintage shops, a James Beard semifinalist cocktail bar, and more.
Escape the everyday and enjoy the holidays and the holiday season in New England at the Lyme Inn.
