2026 is Underway!

  • The Alden Grant Suite (Room 35)
With 2026 underway we are enjoying snow, sunshine, the arts, and great dining. The Upper Valley offers a host of activities to enjoy. Whether you’re on the way to somewhere else, visiting friends and family in the area, or just looking for a great place to spend a few days, the Lyme Inn offers everything you’d need.

We are located in a great area which offers all the charm of small town New England. Nearby Hanover, home to Dartmouth College, provides the restaurants, businesses, and activities of cities.

A couple of notable spots worth visiting?

Wolf Tree – a James Beard semifinalist cocktail bar. One reviewer described the offerings as “a comprehensively curated menu coupled with ruggedness”. Take a peek at their current menu and be inspired!

Marsh Brothers Deli at the Little Store – this local deli is a favorite with locals and visitors alike. Amazing food and a friendly crew make this carry out location (with benches outside in better weather) a very popular spot. Cubanos, Chowdahs, Gyros, donuts and more! Their Facebook page is updated regularly with their daily menus.

We’ll continue sharing more notable stops in future messages.

There are of course many dining options in the Upper Valley which range from the expected to the unexpected. Pizza, Italian, Thai, Nepalese, Jamaican/Haitian, and more. There’s something for everyone.

Of course, the Upper Valley is not only known for its great local cuisine. Outdoor activities are plentiful. Two ski resorts are close to the Lyme Inn. The Dartmouth Skiway is a family-friendly resort that offers great skiing at a great price. Dartmouth ski teams train there. Green Woodlands offers cross country skiing in a beautiful setting. Both of these are minutes from the Inn. If you want to visit a larger ski resort, they aren’t far: they include Killington and Stowe in Vermont, and Bretton Woods and Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire.

Another notable activity in our area is outdoor ice skating. Lake Morey Resort touts the longest outdoor skating track in the United States at over four and a half miles. The loop traces the edge of the lake under open sky. On the interior of the lake, resort staff clear a dozen smaller rinks. And if you bring your own skates, it’s free to enjoy.

And in northern New Hampshire is Ice Castles. These beautiful constructions are made annually and New Hampshire is one of 5 locations in the country that has one. It’s a spectacular site and well worth a visit.
