Happy New Year!

The excitement and hubbub of the holidays is over but there is still plenty of fun to be had in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire. And if quiet activities are more to your liking we have that too!

Here’s some of what you can do over the next few months.

Want amazing cooking classes? Look no further than King Arthur Café, Bakery, and Store across the Connecticut River in Norwich, Vermont. They offer instruction in creating both sweet baked goods—macarons, cream puffs, and eclairs—and savory dishes—empanadas, Middle Eastern flatbreads, and pizzas. Find your bliss on their schedule.

And our local food co-op has amazing cooking class offerings, too. Some of our favorites? Mardi Gras Gumbo, Holi Chana Masala, and Knife Skills!

Want to see new and engaging theater? Northern Stage is showing the world premiere play ’Bov Water, about four generations of Black women challenging and discovering their own narratives from the Civil War to the 1960s to modern-day America.

Upcoming music, comedy, and film events at the Lebanon Opera House include Recycled Percussion, Mike McDonald’s Comedy Extravaganza, and the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival.

Maple weekends arrive in late March. This is a great time to visit sugar shacks, bathe in maple mist, see maple syrup making in action, and stock up on maple syrup for the year.

The skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter sports are always exceptional in New England. Nearby Lake Morey has a wonderful ice skating trail and pond hockey is underway!

Looking for something quieter? Come stay with us, enjoy our area restaurants, including Ariana’s at the Inn, prepare your own meals in our self-contained cottage, and enjoy the peace and quiet of small-town New England.

Whether king, queen, or classic two full-bed rooms or one of our suites, which sleep four, or the Cottage, come enjoy the Lyme Inn, our lovely town, and the Upper Valley.
