Thank you for your generous donation of a pet bed and a $100 gift certificate.
Your generosity and thoughtfulness toward the homeless animals in our care is deeply appreciated. Because of caring individuals like you, we are able to provide adoptable pets with necessary medical care, food, and a safe place to live while they await adoption.
For your enjoyment, I’ve included a copy of an article about the event that ran in the Valley News’ new Enterprise magazine. The photos especially remind me of that beautiful evening. It is an honor to be part of an organization backed by such warm, kind, and generous people as you.
On behalf of the staff and animals of UVHS, thank you for your support.

This is a decidedly different look at what goes on in a small town ideally situated on the banks of a magnificent and unspoiled stretch of the Connecticut River in central western New Hampshire. For starters, there’s a group of guys called “Those Guys” who help Lyme people in need. It can be anything from splitting and delivering wood to a family or home-bound person who needs some solid labor—and for free—to pitching a tent for the latest backyard wedding, at some modest charge. The things “Those Guys” do abounds. There’s also a “Souper Care” group of caring chefs who bake bread and deliver soup for neighbors in need. I’ve been a beneficiary of their fare during some tough times and, I can tell you, it’s a huge relief to see a meal show up announced. There’s also “The Utility Club” of Lyme and “Community Cares.” All do wonderful work in and for the Lyme community, yet, these are just the tip of the iceberg here in Lyme, New Hampshire. [Read more]

As the holidays approach The Lyme Inn and others in our hamlet want to help the less fortunate in our area. In 2013 Dan Fraser of Dan & Whits started a great idea – The 19 Days of Norwich. Lyme and The Lyme Inn are joining this effort with the 19 Days of Lyme. For the first 19 days of December 1% of all bar purchases at The Lyme Inn will be donated to The Upper Valley Haven who will in turn do the great work of supporting the hungry and the homeless in the Upper Valley. Help us help others when you come to The Tavern for a cocktail. And if the spirit moves you help The Upper Valley Haven directly.
We wish you all a very happy holiday season!
That’s the slogan of Stoneface Brewing Company located down by the seacoast between Durham and Portsmouth. I learned about this craft brewery earlier this summer as my best buddy and I spent the better part of an hour each day cozied up in two backyard Adirondack chairs testing mostly local India Pale Ales. And the really exciting news is that Stoneface IPA is now on tap at The Lyme Inn in Lyme, NH.
While the concept sounds easy enough to understand, it is our intention in this four part series to bring you up close and personal to the farm families that partner with The Lyme Inn to bring farm fresh beef, vegetables, and dairy products to our guests, and to the tables of many Upper Valley residents.
The Lyme Inn partners with many local farms in the upper valley. One of the farms is Tensen Farm right here in Lyme. Tensen Farm is family run by Arend and Paula Tensen.
A life long partnership brings the freshest products to your table.
Their farmland covers over 800 acres, and produces corn, hay, grass fed cattle, and Gold Comet laying hens. With only one full time employee on staff, it takes the entire family conditioned to working from dawn to dusk in order to bring the freshest of products to market.
The Tensen partnership with the Lyme Inn is mainly surrounded by their laying Hens. Every Friday Paula comes to the Inn to pick up vegetable and fruit scraps to supplement the diet of her chickens.
The difference in the taste and color before and after this process is remarkable. The eggs produced are much larger, and the darker, more robust yolks make for a beautiful presentation and amazing tasting egg for our breakfast guests.
Here at The Lyme Inn, we believe in preserving local farm sustainability and agriculture. We hope that spreading the word about local farmers and how they enrich our communities and partner with local businesses will encourage you to shop farm fresh!
You can pick up your Farm Fresh items from the Tensen Lyme Farm Fresh stand located just off the Green on East Thetford Road in Lyme.
Next week, we will be featuring Route Five Farms. So keep an eye out!

The bears will soon be here. Ben Kilham is confident of that.
It’s a mild evening in early August, just pushing past 6:00, and Kilham, a bear biologist in Lyme, New Hampshire, is ready to work. In a clearing deep in the woods that’s flush with clover and a few old apple trees, he sits patiently in his truck, scanning the woods for his visitors. He flicks on his satellite receiver, listening for any signal that might indicate a nearby bear. He hears only static. Kilham is unfazed. “They know the time,” he says. “And they know what time I’m here.”
